Professional Services — Additional independent outside service providers are often brought into The Village to provide the most complete wellness programs possible. These services are optional and usually require an additional fee. Only professionals are used as independent service providers. The wellness director has extensive relationships throughout the local medical community and can make well-informed recommendations for all additional providers.
Lori Hahn, LMT, — Massage Therapist
Lori received her training from The Desert Institute of The Healing Arts of Tucson, Arizona, in 1998. She has provided massage therapy to guests of the Lodge at Ventana Canyon Resort and Miraval Spa Resort as well as clients of Focus Massage, Nove Care Physical Therapy, and the Health and Wellness Center at the University of Arizona. In March 2001, she began her own massage therapy practice, The Healthy Advantage. Lori joined the Academy Village wellness team in 2001.
Currently, she offers a selection of massage therapy services to best enhance the benefits of massage to the individual. Her services include: Classic Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Targeted Massage, Aromatherapy Massage, La Stone Therapy, and La Wax Therapy. Lori is available by appointment three days a week in the wellness department’s clinic rooms or in-home sessions, as necessary.
Jeanne Missey, M.A., — ACE Certified Group Fitness/Personal Training
Pilates personal training follows a classical approach to the mind-body system of exercise developed by Joseph H. Pilates over 80 years ago. This method of conditioning develops abdominal and back strength, correct alignment and better posture, balance, body awareness, coordination, flexibility, muscular endurance and enhanced circulation.
The instructor assesses each person’s needs and goals to develop a workout specifically designed for them using specialized Pilates equipment. The exercises can be adapted for anyone regardless of fitness level, age, gender, previous injuries or physical limitations. Pilates is challenging enough for the professional athlete yet gentle enough for the rehabilitation client.
