Health & Wellness —
The Wellness Center was created for all Academy Village residents to provide a comprehensive wellness advocacy program. The program focuses on health education, screening, fitness programs, and targeted intervention for disease prevention and wellness promotion. Funded through Homeowners’ Association dues, most of the services provided are free.
You may have health-related questions. You may want to learn more about a specific medical issue or need a referral for a doctor or a therapist. You never know when having a question answered, attending an informational lecture, or having a licensed medical professional available can make a difference. This kind of wellness support is not usually available to residents of other active adult communities.
Experienced licensed professionals, all independent contractors, provide quality wellness and health-related services. In situations where extra care is deemed necessary, these professionals can recommend a home-healthcare provider. Many of the decisions and worries that accompany such times can be reduced with their help.
The fitness director, who is also an independent contractor, provides classes that support your personal goals for wellness. Currently, the Wellness Center professionals are available five days a week by appointment. Please click on the Wellness Services link to see a partial list of services available.
The summer of 2009 celebrated the ground breaking for the Villas at the Academy Village, an assisted living facility. The first of three buildings contemplated in the updated development plan is under construction with a planned opening date in early 2010. These facilities will be very residential in nature and will provide the highest level of service to their residents. While not homeowner association assets, they are an enhancement to the services available in the community, and we anticipate that residents will be given priority on waiting lists for the Villas should the need for additional assistance become necessary.
The next phase in planning for the potential enhancement of our wellness program is the design and construction of a medical service and office facility on the community center campus. The conceptual design process is underway, and we anticipate that approximately 3500 square feet of space created with our wellness program in mind will be underway in the coming year. This facility will provide space for visiting doctors, and a broader range of service available on-site for our residents.
